Eldora K. Wieland, 97, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Eldora Kathryn Koenig was born to C.C. and Lydia Koenig on September 9, 1911, in Underwood, North Dakota. She attended schools in Underwood and was Salutatorian of her class. She received her Teaching Certificate at Valley City Teachers’ College and taught in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. While there, she met Gustav H. Wieland, and they married on June 26, 1934. They resided in Turtle Lake, Underwood, New Salem, and Bismarck before moving to Fargo in 1948. Eldora remained a homemaker until the early 60s, when she went to work for Herbst Department Store as a seamstress. She retired in 1973. After retiring, Eldora’s love of sewing took her to Bethany Homes in Fargo, where she accumulated 5,000 hours of Volunteer Service. In addition to volunteering, Eldora loved spending time with her family, and she spoiled them with her knitting, baking, and cooking talents. She was a loving, caring woman who adored her children and grandchildren. She loved music, sang in choirs, played the piano, and was active in her church. Gus and Eldora joined First Lutheran Church in Fargo in 1993, and were members there until their deaths. Eldora’s husband Gus passed away in 1998. After selling her home in 2000, Eldora resided at Heritage House in Fargo, Fairmont Assisted Living in Moorhead, and Bethany Homes in Fargo. She died June 4, 2009. Eldora is survived by three children: Alon (Merle) Wieland, West Fargo, ND; Kathy (Ron) Bashor, Golden, CO; Bobbi (Truman) King, Lonetree, CO; nine grandchildren: Steve (Lisa) Bazz, Lakewood, CO; Susan (Robert) Carrillo, Aspen, CO; Lori (John) Brokofsky, Burnsville, MN; Scott (Nancy) Bazz, Arvada, CO; Shari Neece, Moorhead, MN; Lisa Schroeder, Parker, CO; Matthew King (life partner John), Denver, CO; Michael Bazz, Denver, CO; Katie (Jason) Davis, Parker, CO; one sister, Betty Pfaffengut, Caldwell, ID; 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; three brothers and her son-in-law, Gene Bazz. Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 10:30 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
