Elaine D. Olson

Elaine (GaGa) Olson of Fargo, ND, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister died unexpectedly on June 18, 2019 at Sanford Medical Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Elaine was born to Michael and Mary O’Brien in Havana, ND on August 30, 1936. She grew up with three brothers and four sisters on the family farm and graduated from high school in Havana, ND. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo to pursue a business degree. Upon graduation, she worked at Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

Elaine met her husband, Dennis Olson, in Fargo and they were married on December 8, 1956. They were blessed with two children, Lisa Maloy and Lee Olson. Elaine decided to work at home when her children were in school. She loved to cook, travel and live at Big Cormorant Lake in the summertime. Elaine worked at Riverside Elementary School in Moorhead after her kids graduated from high school. She loved to be around kids and was a favorite office lady.

When her first grandchild, Hunter, was born, she quit her job to do full time daycare for him and continued on with her next grandchild, Halle. She also helped out with her other grandchildren, Harrison and Morgan. Elaine loved her family more than anything. She loved to go to soccer, football, and hockey games and also loved to watch dance performances. She was her grandkids biggest fan.

Elaine was a great cook and always made special treats for her family and friends. She would give rides to her grandkids and their friends to many activities and always provided them with a special treat. Elaine made everyone feel special and had a very kind heart. She loved everything that sparkled and generally had something on that did just that.

Elaine loved to travel and her favorite vacation spot was St. Pete Beach in Florida. She also loved to go to Disney World with her grandkids. She could always be seen laughing on the Tea Cup ride at Magic Kingdom.

Elaine will be greatly missed by her husband, Dennis Olson; her children Lisa (Chad) Maloy and Lee Olson; her grandchildren Hunter and Halle Maloy and Harrison and Morgan Olson; her brothers Bob (Gail) O'Brien and Michael (Linda) O’Brien; her sister June (Paul) Gabriel; sister in laws Elaine O’Brien, Elaine Borgen and Cenora Grivno; brother in law Keith (Yvonne) Olson and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Mary O’Brien; her brother William (Bill) O’Brien; and her sisters Marion Kulzer, Lavina Christensen and Dode O’Brien.

Elaine will be greatly missed by all.
