Elaine Joann Nicklaus, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones on August 22, 2020.
Elaine was born to Adolph and Hilda Anderson, the thirteenth of fourteen children in Walcott North Dakota. She shared many stories of growing up with her family there. She had the gift of voice and sang in school, church, and many private events. She also, as she called it, "tinkered" on the piano. Her love of music was passed on to all her family.
Elaine was a homemaker, raising seven children and helping raise many of her grandchildren. She kept track of all birthdays and never was a card forgotten. Her joy in life was her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Elaine had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, even at her own expense. She was someone who cared more about others' needs than her own. Her generosity and giving heart knew no bounds. She had a deep faith and always reminded her loved ones to pray and to "count your blessings." Wally and Deann Plante, Oryce Carlson, and Sandra "Tuba" Sigmond were blessings to her, and she loved them deeply.
Elaine was very civic-minded and liked to stay current on world events and politics. Her heart was always with the underdog.
Elaine will live lovingly in the hearts of all those left behind and is survived by one brother and six children.
