Eileen Van Dame, 97, Fargo died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Bethany University Nursing Home, Fargo where she has lived since September of 2010.
Eileen was born July 31, 1915 at Baker, MT to Prentice and Olga (Evers) Correll residing in Montana, Beach, ND and the rural Fargo area.
She married Ralph Van Dame on December 3, 1932 in Moorhead, MN. They lived in Kelso, ND, rural Mapleton, Attica, IN from 1937-1946, Horace, ND and Fargo since 1948 to the present.
Eileen worked for Correll Construction, Herbst Department Store, Sgutt’s (alterations), Bernie’s Record Shop, NDSU and El Zagel as well as babysitting for family and friends.
Eileen served as President of Moorhead Town and Country Senior’s Club from 1975-1988, was a member of Retired Senior’s Volunteer Program and member of Eagles and Moose Clubs.
Eileen’s special love was sharing her accordion/piano music playing with her band at F-M Senior Clubs, nursing homes and for gatherings of friends. She loved bingo, dancing, creating fun special writings, poems, humor and wit. She was very talented and creative in everything she did – upholstering, wallpapering, sewing, floral arranging and making something unique out of nothing. She liked to socialize and enjoyed her family, grandchildren and friends.
Eileen is survived by two sons: Duane (Lucille), Bismarck, ND; Lamarr (Barbara), Fargo; a daughter, Karen (Dale) Lundeen, West Fargo; two grandchildren, Katie and Hannah; two sisters, Evelyn Simpson, Detroit Lakes, MN; Berniece Daddario, Durham, ND; Brother, Lloyd (Beverly) Correll, Moorhead, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her parents, sisters; Audrey Dobbs, Marie Sokness, Brother: Merle Correll and one grandchild, Rebecca Van Dame.
