Edythe Grover, 96, of Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Eventide Fargo.
Edythe Delphine Blom was born to Etha and Oskar Blom on May 12, 1926. She grew up on a farm near Eckelson, ND, and went to school in Valley City.
Edie was a natural caregiver. She took in her aging father-in-law, daily visited her aging mother, and then took in two of her grandchildren. Edie daily babysat neighbor kids and eventually two of her great-grandchildren.
In 1946 Edie met Russell Grover while working at Sears, where she set up all the displays and also "Set Type," making all the signs for the store. Edie married Russ on November 26, 1946. Both she and Russ worked for Sears until they retired.
Edie loved spending time at the lake with family and friends. Russ and Edie received a wedding gift of a lake lot on Pelican Lake in 1946, where they built a cabin. In 2000 they moved to a cabin on Little Pelican Lake.
They enjoyed going to the Eagles every weekend with a close circle of friends. This group also got together to play cards every month and to celebrate each other's birthdays.
Edie belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. She enjoyed church circles and Bible studies, including BFS.
She belonged to a homemaker's group for many years. The women in the group became such good friends that they continued to meet long after leaving the Homemaker's Organization. Edie also belonged to the Sons of Norway and the Red Hats.
Edie lived in a great neighborhood. She often "coffeed" (as she called it) with neighbors.
Her hobbies changed through the years. They included reading, sewing, needlework, flower gardening, trying new restaurants, going to rummage sales, style shows, and daily walks.
Edythe is survived by her daughter, Barb (Dave) DuBord, and son, Bob (Sherry) Grover; her grandchildren, Jason (Bekki) DuBord, Jamie (Ryan) Solomon, Jenny (Matt) Jobgen, Jesse (Aleecia) Grover, Joe Grover, Shaun (Kassie) Grover, and Jamie Grover; seven great-granddaughters with another on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Etha and Oskar Blom; her husband, Russell Grover, her son, Ron Grover; and all of her siblings and most of her friends.
