Winnie Stadter passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015.
Edwina Leigh Persinger was born on October 9, 1940 in Covington, Virginia. She graduated from Covington High School in 1956. Winnie then received certification as an X-Ray Technician from Medical College of Virginia. She worked as an X-Ray Technician at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Winnie met her late husband, Dr. Richard "Dick" Stadter there. They were married in 1963. Winnie and Dick lived in Denver, CO for a while before moving to Fargo, ND in 1969. In Fargo, Winnie worked as Director of Education at the Radiologic Technology School at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, MN. She received a Bachelor's degree from NDSU, and then earned a Masters degree in Hospital Administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Winnie and Dick moved to Charlotte, NC in 1980 where she was an active member of the Junior League. They returned to Fargo, ND in 1985. Winnie has been the past president of the Fargo Moorhead Civic Opera and the Fine Arts Club of Fargo/Moorhead. Winnie was a member of the Mortar Board, Women’s Honor Society and the Mental Health Association. She spent many years as a volunteer for the Fargo Public Library in their outreach program. Winnie enjoyed participating in the Fine Arts Club bowling league and their Mahjong league and she was an avid bridge player. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles "Ed", mother, Alice, brother, Carl "Sammy" and husband, Richard. She is survived by her son, John (Carol) Stadter and her brother, Brad "Jackson" Persinger as well as Renee Sanders and Jason Martinez.
