Edward Oliver Samuelson Sr., 75, Fargo, North Dakota, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Sanford Health & Meritcare Hospital in Fargo. Ed was born May 29th, 1935 in Fargo, the son of Didrick and Mamie Samuelson. He grew up on the family farm on the west side of Horace N.D., helping his father on the mail route and farming. He graduated from Horace High School and attended NDSU to study engineering. He married Sherry Dekko in March of 1955. After being hailed out three years in a row farming, he start selling investments and insurance and moved his family to Fargo in 1960. Ed soon started his own agency, North American Ltd. Ed graduated from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado as a Certified Financial Planner with his son, Eddy. He never really retired, loving his vocation but coming to enjoy his winters in Arizona. He was proud of being a Boy Scout and going to Valley Forge. His idea of fun was going to the lake with the family and being outdoors. He had a real passion for flying and logged over 5500 hours. He was a member of Sunrise and Daylight Masonic Lodges in Fargo along with El Zagal Shrine. Ed was a NDSU Team Maker and enjoyed attending football and basketball games. He is survived by Sherry Samuelson and four children, Edward Oliver Samuelson Jr. (Kim) West Fargo, James Bryan Samuelson (Kim) Fargo, Jo Louise Dresh (John) Phoenix AZ, and Thomas Jon Samuelson (Donna) Horace. He also leaves eleven grandchildren: Kristen Reinertson (Steve), John Samuelson, Nicholas Dresh, Tyler Dresh, Kennedy Dresh, Rachel (Jack) Dwyer, Isaac Samuelson, Josef Samuelson, Hannah Samuelson along with one great grandson Jesse Dwyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald. The family would like to thank the great staff of Roger Maris Cancer Center and Sandford Meritcare for the wonderful care he received. Viewing will be at Horace Lutheran Church Wednesday, June 30, 5-7 p.m.; with prayer service at 7 p.m. Masonic service will follow at 7:30 for those wishing to attend. Funeral services will be at Horace Lutheran Church at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 1. Viewing will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Horace Lutheran Cemetery.
