Edna Middlestead

Edna Middlestead, 90, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo.

Edna Kassman was born on March 15, 1924 to Louie and Emma (Remien) Kassman in Fredonia, ND. She married Reinhold H. Middlestead on March 28, 1943 in Kulm, ND. They lived and farmed near Fullerton, North Dakota and later moved near LaMoure for eleven years. They moved to Fargo in 1955. She worked for West Fargo Packing for many years as a spice weigher, and later doing custodial work at NDSU.

Edna had many hobbies, including gardening and quilting, the fruits of which she lovingly shared with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her quiet wit and caring spirit.

Edna is survived by her sons, Robert (Carol) Middlestead, Argusville, ND; Fredrick Middlestead, St. Paul, MN; three brothers, Walter, Wilbert, and William (Deb) Kassman; three sisters, Delores (Daniel) Wagner; Eva Peterson; and Mary Lou Widmer; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold; parents; and ten siblings.

Memorials are preferred to Plymouth Congregational UCC or Villa Maria Nursing Home, both in Fargo.
