Edna Bartle, 97, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her home in Fargo. She had been living at Touchmark, an independent/assisted living facility for the past 18 years.
Edna Lorraine Cloke was born July 18, 1919 in Edgeley, ND, the daughter of Max and Goldie (Strating) Cloke.
In 1942 Edna married Wendell Bartle. They worked together on their farm for the next 40 years, raising three children. She said on more than one occasion that the best time was when we were all together on the farm. Her kitchen table was a popular spot for friends and neighbors to stop by for coffee and cookies.
After retirement, Edna and Wendell enjoyed vacationing in Arizona for part of their winters. They also enjoyed visiting and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Edna was a member of the Edgeley Jehovah’s Witnesses Congregation and later a member of the Fargo Congregation.
Edna is survived by sons, Robert (Joyous) Bartle, Le Sueur, MN; Richard (Karen) Bartle, Overland Park, KS; daughter, Nancy (Greg) Winterquist, Grandin, ND; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; brother, Arlie (Shirley); sisters, Edith (Melvin) Syverson and Mildred (Roy) Fischer.
Edna will be greatly missed by friends and family.
