E. Ione Mutchler

Ione, 91, passed away at Bethany in Fargo. She was born on May 20, 1933 in Northwood, ND to parents Olavus & Luella Hegg. She grew up in Northwood along with Bob Mutchler. They were married there in August 1954. They moved around while Bob was in the Air Force and settled in Fargo, ND.

Ione was known as the "Hostess with the Mostest". Friends & family could stop by anytime for coffee, baked goodies and some great conversations. She would even share treats with the Mailman and Garbage crew. Awesome meals too! She was always checking her cookbook collections for new ideas to try.

She was the neighborhood Grandma to all the kids. They loved visiting with her. May Day was fun to watch. They would ring the doorbell with May Baskets and she would chase them and give them a big hug. Oh, the squeals! At Halloween, the homemade popcorn balls were the best. Parents would have their kids ask if there were any extras for them. Mom always made sure there was plenty.

Ione loved her flowers, especially the red geraniums on the deck and red petunias in the front garden. Mom was a people person and loved to visit with everyone. She liked to keep busy and was always "puttzin" with something.

Ione's favorite thing to do was to go "Dingin". Not to be confused with shopping. We would go to lunch and then off to Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx. We never knew what things we might find. Every summer we would get up early and drive to Nisswa, MN and spend the day "Dingin".

Ione was preceded in death by her husband Bob; daughter Chris; her parents; Bob's parents, Lynn & Connie Mutchler; three brothers: Curt (Mary), Mike (Hazel), Wally (Maxine) and granddaughter Katie. She is survived by her children, Lorre (Stan Krause), Mike (MJ), 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
