Edgar (Ed) Leno Leapaldt of Fargo, ND passed away Saturday, June 23 at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.
Ed was born August 1, 1932 to Leno and Johanna (Herman) Leapaldt near Woodworth, ND. He grew up in the Woodworth area and graduated from Woodworth High School in 1950. On January 29, 1953, he was inducted into the Army and shipped out to Korea, where he served until the end of 1954. When discharged as Sergeant and released, he spent 8 years in the Army Reserve. Ed married the love of his life, Leona (Koenig) on June 15, 1957 and had three daughters: Peggy, Karen and Connie. They resided in Fargo for most of their marriage and he retired from the USPS in December 1990 and opened up “Ed’s Rod & Reel Repair” as a hobby. Ed was a Twins fan (win or lose), a Bison fan, slayed crossword puzzles, loved to fish and never turned down a hot cup of coffee. He had the privilege of taking part in the Honor Flight in the summer of 2017.
Ed is survived by his wife, Leona, and daughters, Peggy (DuWayne) Tommeraus, Karen (Steve) McCann and Connie (Kent) Mosier. He is also survived by his sisters, Viola Person and Carolyn Troseth; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, (Alvin, Marvin and Terry) and grandson (Michael).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
