DuWayne H. Sande, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, November 22, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Fargo.
DuWayne Hartley Sande was born on August 4, 1926 in McVille, ND to Oscar and Henrietta (Larson) Sande. He attended school in McVille, ND and worked on the family farm, after which he entered the US Army in February of 1945. He served for two years as a Military Policeman during World War II.
Following his service, he lived in Fargo for a brief time before moving to Duluth, MN. There, he worked as a truck driver for the Hamm’s Beer & 7-Up company for 30 years. He later returned to Fargo where he worked for the Fargo Public Schools for 8 years and Rod’s Amoco for 17 years. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
DuWayne was an avid baseball fan, and enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins.
DuWayne was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ethel Olson; Dorothy Geiger; Shirley Bjugson; and brother, Orville Sande.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor nurses at the VA Hospital and the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care and compassion given to DuWayne during the past month.
Burial and Military Rites will take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
