DuWayne F. Lein was born in Fargo, ND, August 17, 1922. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1941. DuWayne enlisted in the Army and was a radio operator/technician. He served with the 36th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre. He was honorably discharged in 1945. DuWayne met Esther Howe at the Red Owl grocery store. They were married for 53 year, and raised two children.
In 1952, DuWayne began working with Dutch Maid Dairy as a delivery man. He worked there 27 years until his retirement. He then worked as a custodian for the Fargo Public Schools for 7 years.
DuWayne enjoyed watching old movies, listening to Big Band era music, and gardening in the summer. He also built doll houses and donated them to Oak Grove School.
DuWayne died August 1, 2013 at Eventide in Moorhead. He is survived by his two children, Greg (Roberta) Lein, Moorhead, MN; Diane (Martin) Jendro, Fargo, ND; and grandson, Justin Jendro, Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Lein; his wife, Esther; four brothers, Henry, Oscar, Joris and Douglas Lein; and his sister, Helen Remme.
