Duane Slusher, 88, of Fargo, died Thursday, February 6, 2025 at his home under the care of his family.
Duane was born on October 27, 1936 to Sidney and Ida (Henningsen) Slusher in Oakes, ND. He graduated from Fargo Central. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962 and in the Army Reserves from 1962-1966.
He married Rebecca Erickson on March 30, 1963 in Rothsay, MN and made their home in Fargo, ND. They were blessed with three children.
He worked for Reserve Supply in 1962, which changed ownership to API, Cameron Ashley and Guardian. He retired in 2005.
He enjoyed watching his kid's sporting events and later his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping in the summer, including mowing the lawn at Lazy Acres Campground until we moved to The Village of Riverview near Detroit Lakes. During the winter he enjoyed watching westerns and sports. He also kept up with the snow removal unless his son-in-law beat him to it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; grandson, William Slusher; sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen; and brother in-law, Larry Teberg.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky); son, Vince (April) and Bob (Cathy); daughter, Kim (Dana); brothers, Orville (Shirley), Chuck (Barb), Dennis (Jane) and Keith (Joan); sisters and brothers in-law, Roberta (Ralph) Ouse, Rosalind Teberg, and Lorin Hansen. Also, he leaves 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Honorary Urn Bearers: Tianne Burdick, Justin Johnson, Cody Johnson, Tiffany Gohman, Michael Fuka, Alyssa Jensen, Becca Slusher, Emily Jensen, Jessica Slusher and Erica Jensen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Duane Slusher to the Sanford Hospice.
