Douglas Johnson

Douglas James Johnson was born on April 21, 1980, in Fargo ND. He lived in Fargo until he was 7 when his family moved to Columbia Heights, MN. They returned to Moorhead when he was 12 and Doug has resided in the Fargo-Moorhead area ever since. Doug was born with a fishing pole in one hand and a boat in the other. Growing up, his favorite activity was spending time with his family at the lake. He loved to fish and swam like one too. As he grew older, Doug added playing cards and video games, hanging out with friends, playing Frisbee golf, woodworking and construction, and riding his motorcycle to the list. Doug took after his Grandpa Leo and loved to drive, and interact with people. He enjoyed his job as a taxi driver for Doyle Yellow Checkered Cabs very much. In the presence of his loving family and friends, Doug died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, MN, at the age of 31. Doug is survived by his parents Tim Johnson of Fridley, MN and Linda (Simmer) Johnson of Fargo, ND, his sister Heather Johnson and her fiancé Kevin Anderson of Fargo, ND, paternal grandmother Margaret Hoffard, maternal aunt Mary Beth Simmer, maternal uncle Frank Simmer, paternal uncles Clifford (Betty) Johnson, Marshall (Linda) Johnson, Roger (Debbie) Johnson, Barry (Caroline) Johnson, paternal aunts Carol (Gordy) Hall, Connie Johnson, Hazel (Jim) Prahl, Sue (Denny) Howey, and many cousins. Doug is preceded in death by his little brother Tyler, maternal grandparents, Leo and Frances Simmer, paternal grandfathers Clifford Johnson, Richard Weinfeldt, and John Hoffard. Out of all the sadness and loss comes one good thing. Doug will help many people to live with the donation of his organs. Visitation: Wednesday, May 25, 5:00 - 7:00pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Funeral: Thursday, May 26, 2011, 3:00pm at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND There will be a gathering for family and friends at Peace Lutheran Church after the interment.
