Dorothy Sheehan, 92, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Innovis Health. Dorothy Maxine Knudsen was born August 12, 1918, at Story City, Iowa, daughter of Sigurd and Agnus (Simonson) Knudsen. At four months of age, her family moved to Canton, South Dakota, where her father edited the Norwegian newspaper “Visergutten”. She graduated from Canton High School in 1936 and then attended Augustana College for two years. In 1942, she married John Doyle. Dorothy worked for Northern States Power Company in Fargo for 34 years, which she was always very proud of. In 1976, she married William Sheehan. For the last 18 months, she lived at Bethany Retirement Assisted Living in Fargo. Dorothy’s family meant the world to her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Bruce) Wakefield, Fargo, ND; grandsons, Steve (Jackie) Johnson, Fargo; Scott Johnson, Minneapolis, MN; Allen Johnson, Fargo; five great-granddaughters, Rhiannon, Tawni, Rachel, Mara and Lauren; and three great-great-grandsons, Preston, Thomas and Daniel. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, who died in 1986; parents; sister, Ruth and brother, Lafe. Funeral Service: Friday, September 3, 2010, at 10:00 AM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery – North, Fargo, ND.
