Dorothy Verle Monroe Paulsen passed into Heaven November 1, 2022 at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND
Dorothy was born March 10, 1924 to Hugh and Nellie (Hall) Monroe. She was raised on the Monroe family farm in Rockwood Township near Sebeka, MN. She was one of eight children. Dorothy walked to Wildrose District 34 Elementary School and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1942.
Dorothy married Raymond Paulsen on November 28, 1945. They lived on the Paulsen farm near Bluegrass, MN until 1955 when they moved their five children to Fargo, ND. Dorothy worked at the Southside Ben Franklin for 30 years and is remembered by many people who shopped there.
She was active in her church, Red River Danes Club and volunteered with Ray at Bonanzaville. She loved to sew and crochet. She baked dozens of cookies and bars at Christmas time for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Mary (Don) Peterson, sons James, David (Marie), Ronald (Sandy),
Steven (Laurie), and her daughter JoAnn (Terry) Smeby; grandchildren Justin, Joel, Scott, Wendy, Sarah, Adam, Andy, Amy, Erin, Suzanne, Matthew and 23 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; parents, brothers Milton, Charles, Robert and sisters, Florence, Alta and Patricia.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany and Ethos Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Dorothy.
