Dorothy Hector, 91, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Dorothy was born December 28 1918, in Fargo, ND, to Fred and Margaret (Sewall) Hector. She attended Fargo Central High School, and a college preparatory school on the East Coast. She attended Pine Manor Junior college and Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. She was active in the Fargo-Moorhead Music Club, PEO, and the Junior Service League. Dorothy was a flight attendant for Northwest Orient Airlines, one of the first flight attendants not required to have a nursing degree. She had a long history of hospital volunteer service at Dakota Clinic. She showed her miniature Schnauzer across the country and into Canada. The dog won best in show in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her greatest love was music, particularly playing her piano. She performed annually in a piano quartet of the F-M Music Club for 30 years. Her survivors include her daughter, Dolly (Dennis) Fisher, Fargo; her sister, Caroline Dady, Fargo; and a brother, Fred (Earlyne) Hector, Fargo. She had four grandchildren, Erin Fisher, San Francisco, CA; Seana Fisher, Nashville, TN; Kevin and Megan Fisher, both of Fargo, ND; nieces and nephews, Wendell (Sandra) Smith; Gary Locke (Karen) Smith; Fred Harrington; Camie (Gary) Steiner; Susie (Pete) Yakowicz; John (Lisa) Dady; and Carrie Hector. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Smith and Peggy Harrington; nephews, Clay and Martin Hector; cousins Mary Suhr and Oral Holm; and brother-in-law, John Dady. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fargo/Moorhead Humane Society or the F-M Music Club.
