Dorothy “Dot” Larson, 92, died Sunday, Feb 2, 2014 at Fargo, ND.
Dorothy Sarah Dart was born September 8, 1921 in Denbigh, ND, to parents Jay and Martha Dart. She grew up on a ranch near Towner, ND, and attended boarding school in Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1939 and went on to attend business school.
Dorothy married Armond T. Larson on October 10, 1942 in Wauhegan, IL. During WWII she worked for the Selective Service in Minot and later as a bookkeeper and executive secretary of the Southeast Community Action Agency in Fargo. She and Armond made their homes in Boston, MA, Lewiston, MT, Williston, ND, Ulen and Willmar, MN, and Fargo, ND.
She was a Bluebird and Campfire Girl Leader. She volunteered at the New Life Center and also at First Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school and bible school teacher and was an active member of Ruth Circle. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed gardening and reading, along with spending time with her family on Lake Maud, MN.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Pam (Greg) Selbo of Fargo and Deborah (Ron) Fuglie of West Fargo; five grandchildren, Scott Larson, Danielle Mehaffey, Gabe (Sarena) Selbo, Britt Selbo, and Brock Selbo; three great-grandchildren, Jonas and Ronan Selbo, and Westin Mehaffey; and two daughters-in-law, Twylah Larson and Sandra Larson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Jeffrey Dart Larson, sister Amy Dart, and brother Loyal Dart.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide for the wonderful care they gave Dorothy over the years.
