Doris J. Wanberg, 98, Fargo, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Doris Jenette Olsen, daughter of Sigurd and Martha Olsen, was born May 15, 1918 in Rutland, ND. As an infant she moved with her family to Minnesota. They lived in Foreston and Milaca. They later moved back to North Dakota and she graduated from high school in Forman.
She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo and became a registered nurse in 1942. She married Harold P. Wanberg of Fargo, March 14, 1943. They lived in Pendleton, Oregon until he went overseas during World War II. After the war, they lived in Fargo, ND.
She worked in hospitals in Oakes, ND, Pendleton, OR, and St. Luke’s and Fargo Clinic in Fargo (now Sanford). While raising her family she did volunteer nursing in the neighborhood. Her husband died March 26, 2002.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Janice (Steffen) Christensen, Susan Loyd, Claudia (Gary) Wolsky; one sister, Margie (Paul) Ray, Grand Forks, ND; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Cleo Johnson and 6 brothers, Maynard, Reo, Lloyd, Wayne, Lyle and Carl.
A private family service will be held.
