Doris Speral, 95, of Fargo, ND, was called to her eternal resting place on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo.
Doris Lena Martha Rossow entered this world on November 11, 1924 in Hankinson, ND, born to Julius and Bertha (Witt) Rossow. She grew up on the family farm and often entertained us with stories of life on the farm. After graduating from Hankinson High School, she attended business school in Minneapolis, MN and worked at Honeywell. She played basketball in high school and for the Honeywell amateur team and was also a model for Cartwright Dresses while she was in Minneapolis.
Doris moved back to Hankinson where she married Cliff Speral on November 10, 1951 and were blessed with 6 children in the next 11 years. They lived in Bismarck and Wahpeton before moving to Hope, ND, and eventually to Fargo. She and Cliff were always in the stands for all the kids’ activities and sports events. While raising six growing children she was constantly baking bread, cookies, donuts, pies, and fried chicken that put the Colonel to shame.
Another constant in her life was the unconditional love she showed to all her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lived her life with faith and was a long-standing member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo.
While Alzheimer’s may have erased many of her memories, she retained her sense of humor, smile, and beautiful laugh to the end. For this we are thankful.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (Rick) Freitag, Paul (Cathy) Speral, Mark (Lynn) Speral, John (Romelle) Speral, James Speral; grandchildren, Christina, Eric, Laura, Kaitlyn (Tony), Kara (Andy), Joel (Lacey), Ross (Caitlin), Alissa (Joe), Colton; great-grandchildren, Lucy, Olivia, Drew, Eli, Arie, Avery, and Aliya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; son, David; her parents; three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
