Doris Soberg Lileks died peacefully Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born July 12, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, where she spent her early years. She spent most of her adult life in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Her parents were born in Norway; she and her two sisters spent time in both Norway and the US. Her parents were founding members of Norseville, a community of Norwegian immigrants and descendants near Princeton, NJ, that thrives in its heritage to this day. Many of her fondest memories were of her early years spent in Norseville. Her ties to Norway and family there remained strong throughout her life. She nurtured those family relationships and traditions and passed them on to her children and grandchildren.
She met Gerald (Jerry) Soberg of Harwood, ND, and they married in 1955. They raised five children in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Jerry spent his life in the automobile industry, as general manager for WW Wallwork, then owned his own car sales business. They shared many happy years in the Fargo area and at Lake Lida until Jerry's death in 1995.
Most of Doris's working career was spent as a legal secretary with the Ohnstad-Twichell Law Firm in West Fargo where she enjoyed 30+ years of interesting work and great friendships. Jerry passed away in 1995. Doris married Ralph Lileks in 2005; they enjoyed many happy years together before her illness.
Doris will be deeply missed by her husband, Ralph, her five children: Virginia Soberg Hultquist (Art) of Greensboro, NC; Pam Hanson (Dave), Nancy Trenbeath (Tim), Greg Soberg, all of Denver CO, and Bryant Soberg (Tammie) of Sioux Falls, SD, and by beloved grandchildren Siri (Adam) Setzer, Erik (Jennifer) Rhyne, Zachary (Elaisha) Trenbeath, Jenna Trenbeath, Kegan Williams, Jordan Soberg, Kristianna Hanson, and Hannah and Grant Soberg, as well as great grandchildren Toren and Kaiya Rhyne, Alivia Trenbeath, and Caroline Setzer. She is also survived by Ralph's children James Lileks (Sara) of Minneapolis, and Kim (Dave) Olson of West Fargo, and Ralph's grandchildren Alexa and Brandon Olson, and Natalie Lileks.
Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Langfeldt, and is survived by her sister Esther Olsen.
Doris's family and her husband Ralph would like to thank the loving staff at Touchmark in Fargo for the amazing care they provided.
