Doris was born 26 February 1926 in Gardner, North Dakota to Wesley John Jones and Myrtle Barbara Michel Jones. Doris passed away 17 July 2014 at Elim Rehabilitation and Care Center at the age of 88.
Doris married William Eugene Rudd 13 February 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. She leaves a legacy of three daughters, Cheryl (Kit) Nichol (Stuart), Wolverton, Diane Peterson, Moorhead, Barbara Schaff (Leonard), Fargo and 8 grandchildren, James Nichol, Jeff Nichol, Heather Parks, (Bill), Alanna Wahdahl, (Jordan), Michael Peterson, Scott Peterson, Christie Haymore, Jodi Schaff and 10 great grandchildren, Sean Brekke, Jacob Weist, Sophia and Jack Nichol, Brandon Parks, Ava and Anthony Peterson, Aedan Haymore, Kase and Amara Waldahl. Doris is predeceased by her parents Wesley and Myrtle Jones and her brothers, Willard Jay Jones and Herbert Roy Jones.
Doris and Bill farmed at Gardner, N.D. until moving into Fargo in 1962 where they owned and operated Red River Lanes Bowling Alley. She bowled for over 40 years. Doris was involved with Nora Lutheran Church in Perley and Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo. Doris was gifted musically and could play the piano and trombone by ear. In her earlier years, she played piano in a dance band for Community Club gatherings. They lived at Upper Cormorant Lake in the summers for over 30 years where she enjoyed flower gardening and fishing. She loved fishing at Lake of the Woods. Doris enjoyed watching the Vikings, and did Toll and China painting. Doris’ greatest joys were her marriage, children and grandchildren.
