Doris E. McAndrew, 91 of Fargo, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Doris was born December 2, 1921 in Pasadena, CA. She was the daughter of Arthur H. and Evelyn B. Gage. She attended schools in Pasadena and graduated from Pasadena Junior College. She worked for a time as an assistant buyer at Bullocks Department Store in Los Angeles. She married James A. McAndrew in Pasadena on February 19, 1943. She traveled with James to North Dakota to a life on the McAndrew farm near Grandin in Cass County.

Doris was active as an elder in the Hendrum Presbyterian Church and served as an officer in what was then the Fargo-Oakes Presbyterial Organization. She was elected and served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star chapter of Hendrum, MN.

In 1973, she and James moved to Solana Beach, CA, where she was active in the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church and there she served as a Deacon. During these years in California, Doris and James traveled extensively, visiting most of the European countries, along with Great Britain, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, Panama Canal, and the Caribbean Islands. They also traveled most of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and most of the Canadian Provinces as well.

Doris and James moved to Fargo in 2002 and resided at Touchmark at Harwood Groves. They were members of First Presbyterian Church and Doris was also a member of P.E.O. International.

Doris is survived by her husband, James; two children, Dr. James Jr. (Mary) of Fargo and Margaret (Mark) McAndrew Beasley of Abilene, TX; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Millie Urdahl.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Gage.
