Doris Doyle

Doris Doyle, 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010, in her home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Doris Erickson was born March 18, 1927, in Paradise Montana, to Gustav and Ada Erickson. She grew up in Kalispell, Montana, where she met and married her husband of 63 years, Willis “Bill” Doyle. Doris and Bill have spent the last 40 years together in the Fargo-Moorhead area. In 1980, they bought Chub’s Pub in Fargo, where she worked as the bookkeeper, until retiring in 1992. Upon her retirement, they both enjoyed traveling to Florida, Arizona, Montana and Canada, to visit family and friends. The business still remains family owned today. Besides travel, she enjoyed golfing in her younger years and nights out dancing with Bill. Her true joy in life though was family. Sunday gatherings for dinner, birthdays, Christmas, Easter egg hunts and following her grandchildren’s many activities were the things she cherished. Shopping was another activity Doris loved. She loved sharing gifts with other people. She always wanted to bring a smile to somebody’s face and she did that through the joy of giving. Somebody opening a gift always gave her a reason to smile. She simply loved bringing joy into people’s lives. Doris is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Janet Ramstad, Fargo, ND; Mark (Katie) Doyle, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jason Ramstad, Fargo; Brett (Ronda) Ramstad, St. Paul, MN; Erin Doyle, Gilbert AZ; sister, Lois Nay (Dale) Cardston, Alberta, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Ada; brothers, Roy, Bill and Kenneth; sisters, Ann Marie, Dorothy, Betty and Kathy; and son-in-law, Dewey Ramstad. The family would like to thank Dr. Peggy Sheldon and Dr. Wallace Radke of MertiCare for the care they have given Doris over the years and Hospice of the Red River Valley for caring for her in her home.
