Doreen Carlson

Doreen Carlson, 69 of Fargo, passed away May 21, 2011 surrounded by her family at Sanford Palliative Care Unit Fargo, ND. Doreen was born August 19, 1941 at Rugby, ND, the daughter of David and Amanda (Thingvold) Gronvold. Upon graduating from High School in Gardner, ND in 1959, she began working in the insurance field. Which led to a 40 plus year career as an underwriter for West Fargo Insurance, Rust Insurance, Heartland Insurance and Moorhead Insurance Agency, retiring in 2006. Doreen’s zest for life and fun always lit up a room with her smile and wit. Growing up with her twin sister, they were team members of their high school girls basketball team, who took four N.D. State Championships. Always putting others before herself and lending a helping hand, Doreen especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed rummage sales, reading, food and traveling. Being a member of the Fargo Elks Club and Moorhead American Legion, she enjoyed spending time with many friends playing Bingo and dancing A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, whose memory will have a lasting impression in their lives. Doreen is survived by her son, David McClary and his wife, Lori (Anderson) and her Pride and Joy triplet grandchildren, Shawn, Kaylee and Andrea of Fargo; daughter-best friend, Daisha Wolf, Oxford, MS; twin sister, Dorla (Lloyd) Hanson, Fargo, ND; brother, Elvin (Faye) Gronvold, Moorhead, MN and many beloved nieces and nephews. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, David and Amanda. Memorial Service: Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 11:00 AM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Inurnment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
