Donna Mae Ranger, beloved sister, died Friday, July 3, 2020 at 9:30 p.m. at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND.
Donna was born on January 14, 1945, to Vernon and Ethel Ranger in Fargo, ND. She resided in Fargo all her life except for a brief time in Phoenix, AZ. Donna also enjoyed most of her summers at the Ranger cottage on Maplehurst Beach, Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids, MN.
Donna studied nursing at North Dakota State School of Science. After graduation, she practiced nursing in all the hospitals in Fargo-Moorhead and for 6 months in Phoenix. Her nursing skills were excellent, especially as a surgical nurse.
Donna’s artistic talents included counted cross stitch and hardanger (Norwegian embroidery). A hardanger design she created was featured on the back cover of a Nordic Needle catalog. She won many awards and ribbons as she entered County and State Fairs. She became fascinated with the art of card-making and using her extensive collection of rubber stamps. Her cards were featured in the Fargo Forum. She then developed her enthusiasm for quilting, using her perfectionist technique. Machine embroidery evolved into another demonstration of her attention to detail. Those of us who have acquired one of her creations are blessed.
Donna had close relationships with her seven nephews, Jay, Randy, Ross, Mark, Scott, Joel and Vernon and her niece, Jill. They became her special friends and companions.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ethel Ranger; sister Terry Grothe, and brothers-in-law Norman Nubson, Harold Sellin, and Ardell Grothe.
Donna is survived by her sisters, LaVerne Nubson (Fargo) and Margaret Sellin (Hawley), seven nephews and a niece, and their families.
LaVerne and Margaret express special thanks to Bethany on University and Ethos Home Care and Hospice for their kindness, care, and dedication to Donna throughout her illness.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Free Lutheran Church or Ethos Home Care and Hospice.
