Donna Jean Johnston passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND surrounded by her family and minister. Donna Jean Sandon was born September 10, 1929 in Miles City, MT to Clyde and Elma (Mahnken). She grew up on a cattle ranch south of Ekalaka, MT. She attended elementary school in a one-room rural school. She attended and graduated from high school in Belle Fourche, SD. Donna received her teacher’s certificate from Montana State College in Billings. She taught for several years in Baker, MT, where she met and married Forrest G. Johnston on December 18, 1949. They had two daughters, Carma and Linda. Forrest worked for Montana Dakota Utilities Company and the family resided in Miles City and Glendive, MT, Dickinson and Jamestown, ND. Forrest and Donna retired in Billings, MT. Donna moved to Fargo in 1998. Donna was involved in her community by volunteering for the Republican Party, where she held leadership positions and was a member of PEO and numerous other volunteer work. She loved to play bridge, was an avid antique collector and she loved gardening. Most of all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Donna’s loving and grateful presence enriched all she met throughout the years. She was a constant source of love and devotion to her family and friends. Her love will continue to sustain them through their lives. Donna is survived by her daughters, Carma (late David Plambeck), Fargo, ND; and Linda Johnston (David Theurer), Santa Barbara, CA; sister, Kay (Burt) Angstman, Billings, MT; grandchildren, Paul, Rachel and Christina Plambeck; Sarah and Hannah Theurer; special niece and nephew, Barry (Cathy) Angstman and Sherry (Mike) Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Roger Maris Cancer Center Research. Memorial service: Friday, October 5, 2007 at 4:00PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Chapel, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Inurnment: Riverside Mausoleum, Fargo, ND.
