Donna Belle Jensen of 1338 9th St. S. in Fargo died on August 6, 2016. She was born to Flossie (Jones) and Orin Baertsch on February 7, 1932, in New England, North Dakota, the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1950 and attended Jamestown College, where she earned a teaching certificate. Donna taught in a one-room school before marrying John Jensen in 1953 and becoming a mother in 1954. She lived most of her life in Fargo, where she worked in administrative jobs at Agassiz Junior High School and Dakota Hospital before retiring.
Donna was a lifelong animal lover, especially of horses and many beloved dogs throughout her life. In her work, she was compassionate and diligent, solving problems to help people and make institutions work smoothly. Donna was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Charlotte Latham, Orin Baertsch, Jr., Donald Baertsch, and Dwight Baertsch.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Jensen; siblings, Dorothy Wilkinson and Robert Baertsch; children, Jack of Grosse Point, Michigan, Patti Jo of Grand Forks, Robert of Austin, Texas, and Richard Jensen of Fargo; grandchildren, Severin Jensen, Dana Fiedler, Bradley Jensen, and Luke Jensen, along with many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made in her name to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue of Fargo or Home on the Range, Sentinel Butte, North Dakota.
In keeping with Donna's wishes, a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
