Donna Holman

Donna M. Holman, 78, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Donna Mae Jacobson was born January 7, 1929, in Cumberland, Wisconsin, to Elmer and Gladys (Peterson) Jacobson. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1947. She earned her Registered Nursing degree from Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis and went on to work at the hospital in Worthington, Minnesota. In the spring of 1950, Donna visited the home of her nursing classmates, Dorothy Bjerke and Mardell Nienas in Hatton, North Dakota. That weekend, she met Irv Holman at the Hovland Dance Hall in Hatton. Donna and Irv were married in Cumberland, May 4, 1952. After being stationed at George AFB in Victorville, California, they moved to Fargo, North Dakota, in November of 1952. They enjoyed 55 years of true friendship and love. Donna treasured her family, her dear friends and her church. She especially loved to cook, entertain and attend Bison sports events. She was a Bison football season ticket holder for nearly 50 years. Donna and Irv enjoyed many travel adventures around the country, but equally enjoyed their Sunday drives in the local area. Donna sang in the Hope Lutheran choir for over 30 years, was active in Naomi Circle, volunteered at Bethany Homes and participated in countless fundraising and other volunteer activities. She was preceded in death by son, Kirby Alan and a baby girl. Donna is survived by her husband, Irvin C. Holman, Fargo, ND; son, Jon (Judy) Glyndon, MN; daughter, Kari (Keith) Thesing, Kindred, ND; son, Kurt (Debbie), Austin, TX; sister, Gloria (Ken) Barrows, Cumberland, WI; granddaughters, Sara and Lisa Holman, Glyndon, MN; Sydney and Kirsten Holman, Austin, TX; brothers-in-law, Albert (Alice) Holman, Grand Forks, ND; Orlo (Floss) Holman, Horsham, PA; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Art Fund or the American Heart Association. Funeral Service: Friday, September 14, 2007, at 2:30 PM, at Hope Lutheran Church – North campus- Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, September 13, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
