Donald "Don" Napper

Donald “Don” Napper, 82, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, February 14, 2011, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at Edgewood Vista. Donald Frank Napper was born on April 28, 1928 in Grafton, ND to Rueben and Isabel (Kerr) Napper. He lived in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1946. Upon graduation, he served in the ND National Guard and saw active duty during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952. After his return from Korea, he attended University of North Dakota and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1956. Don married Jacqueline Nygard on October 4, 1953 in Grafton. He was employed by the IRS from 1956 until his retirement in 1985. Don was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church for 40 years, member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, and Sons of Norway. His passion was golf and he was active on the Fargo Senior Golf Tour, taking great pride in his two holes-in-one. Don is survived by his wife, Jackie; son, Kevin (Katherine Essrig) Napper, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Emma Napper, Christopher Phelps, and Jenna Phelps; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Henry Phelps; sisters, Delores Edwards, Concord, CA, and Bernice Lewand, Castro Valley, CA; brothers, Jack (Patsy) Napper, Lebanon, MO, and Bob (MaryAnne) Napper, Mesquite, NV. He was preceded in death by his son, Don Scott Napper; parents; and brother, Gerald Napper. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: 5-7 PM, Friday, February 18, 2011, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral home. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
