Donald (Don) Arthur Rasmussen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Don was born on September 16, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Arthur and Catherine Rasmussen. Don grew up in Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Bernice on August 23, 1958. Don and Bernice had three daughters and in 1963 they moved from Winnipeg to Moorhead then West Fargo and in 1970 they settled in Fargo.
Don spent many years working on organs but never learned to play. He owned Rasmussen Electronics and covered ND, western MN and northern SD working on organs in churches, schools, funeral and private homes and worked with many musicians. In 1986 Don was forced to retire when he lost his vision.
He was an avid Radio Control model airplane builder and flyer and a founding (lifetime) member of the Valley RC Flyers. He loved woodworking, everything from toys to remodeling projects.
Don and Bernice spent several years in Mesa, AZ after Bernice retired. They loved to cruise and took 10 cruises celebrating anniversaries and time with family.
He is survived by his wife Bernice; children, Cindy (Rob) Strickland, Charlottesville, Virginia; Marietta (Brian) Bettermann, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Amanda Strickland, Burlington, VT; Michael Strickland, New York City, NY; Matthew, Katie and Jessa Kirschenmann, all of Fargo, ND; Emma Snyder, Chico, CA; step-grand daughters, Brittney and Tiffany Bettermann, Ramsey, MN.
He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Etta Thomas and daughter, Donna Kirschenmann Snyder.
