Dr. Don Martindale, 58, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Donald Jay Martindale was born May 31, 1956 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Thomas and Loraine (Gierke) Martindale. He attended Fargo Public Schools, graduating from North High School in 1974 where he was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. His undergraduate studies were completed at North Dakota State University after which he attended the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He then completed his family practice residency in Fargo, North Dakota.
He met his wife, Lori (Nolting), at St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo where she was a nurse and he was a resident. They married on June 5th, 1982. He began his career in family practice at the South Moorhead Meritcare clinic where he worked until just last week. In addition to his practice, he served as team physician for the Moorhead State Dragons football team as well as a team physician for the North Dakota State Bison. Don was an active member and faithful usher at Messiah Lutheran Church, loved officiating boys and girls high school swimming and diving, and never turned down the opportunity to play 18 (or 27 or 36) at Oxbow Country Club.
His proudest achievements are his favorite son, Nathan, an attorney in Bismarck, North Dakota, his favorite daughter, Teresa, a high school counselor in Omaha, Nebraska, and his other favorite daughter, Bethany, a graduate student at Virginia Tech. Don also cherished his colleagues, golf buddies, and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lori, Fargo, ND, children, Nathan, Teresa, and Bethany, his parents, Tom and Loraine Martindale, Fargo, ND, siblings, Thomas (Sue) Martindale, San Diego, CA, Kevin (Karen) Martindale, Boulder, CO, Camille (Tom) Kouri, St. Paul, MN, as well as several nieces and nephews.
