Donald Dean Kilfoyl, 82, of Moorhead, MN passed away April 20, 2017 at Evergreen Assisted Living surrounded by his family. Don was born September 1, 1934 in Argyle, MN to Richard and Grace (Poolman) Kilfoyl. He spent the first seven years of his life in Joliet, Illinois moving then to Fargo in 1941, living in the F-M area ever since. Don graduated high school from Fargo Central in 1951, soon after he joined the Air Guard then made the decision to join the US Marine Corps in 1955. He was stationed in San Diego, California for 2 years and returned home to Fargo after his discharge.
Don married the love of his life, Diane Krabbenhoft, on March 7, 1962. Don and Diane lived in Fargo for 49 years where they built their family of five. In 1986, Don and Diane moved back to “The Farm” in north Fargo where he was raised as a child. In the last 9 years of Don’s life they moved 4 miles across the stateline into Moorhead. Don worked 46 years around Fargo as a salesman, retiring in 2003.
Don has been a member of American Lutheran Church, now Peace Lutheran, since 1941 at the age of 7. He was a member of the Eagles Club and American Legion. Don was an avid auto racing fan having attended the INDY 500 in Indianapolis, IN 47 years consecutively. He could always be found at any local dirt track cheering on the sprint cars. Don had a very strong liking for aviation while holding his single-engine pilot’s license. He always looked forward to any air show, The Blue Angels being his favorite.
Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane; his children Dina (Mark) Menth of Andover, MN, Darin (Christine) Kilfoyl of Land O’ Lakes, FL and Dawn (Mitch) Johnson of Hickson, ND; his grandchildren Josh, Carly and Michael Menth; Kaela, Kasey, Darin, Alexis and Andrew Kilfoyl; Angela and Emily Johnson; his great-grandchildren Madyson, Jayden, and Eleanor; his siblings Colleen (Dave) Einerson of Sun City West, AZ, Jerry (Kathy) Kilfoyl of Fargo, ND and Sharon (Robert) Toussaint of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Susan Krabbenhoft of Shoreview, MN, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Ronald.
