Donald Holly

Donald Richard Holly, 79, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, North Dakota. Donald was born June 17, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Rex and Gladys (Westfal) Holly. He was raised in Fargo, North Dakota and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Donald attended North Dakota State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He interrupted his college education to serve in Korea during the period between World War II and the Korean Conflict. He graduated from NDSU in 1952. He married Lota Junge on June 19, 1950. Don and Lota have four children and 10 grandchildren. He enjoyed camping in the camper he built himself and tent sewn by Lota. He also enjoyed canoeing and fishing with his family and dog in Canada and the United States. Many fish tales and bear stories abound. Donald worked for GMAC for 35 years before retiring. He kept very busy during retirement, taking immaculate care of his lawn, gardens, and house, that they lived in for 45 years. He created many furniture pieces for his family. He also tended to the care of Lota, for which she is grateful. He will be missed. Donald was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Elks Club, American Legion, Bison Teammakers and the GMAC Retireee Luncheon Club. He leaves his wife, Lota; son, Rick Holly, Fargo, ND; Robin and Randi, Kingwood, TX; daughter, Susan (Rodney) Boutelle, Cody, WY; Courtney and Clinton Boutelle, Cody, WY; daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Rindal, Noonan, ND; Justin (Ashley), Melissa and Lee Noonan, Fargo, ND: son, Christopher (Nancy) Holly, Homer Glen, IL; Heather, Jennifer, and Trent; his brother, Harlan (Ardie) Holly, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Ione (Gerald) Benshoof, Bloomington, MN; brother-in-law, Keith (Joyce) Junge, Big Floyd Lake, MN; many nieces and nephews, including Craig (Debbie) Holly, Fargo, ND; and numerous friends. Funeral Service: Monday, August 13, 2007, at 1:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
