Donald “Bud” Lian, 89, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at ManorCare in Fargo, ND.
Donald Wilbert Lian was born on March 4, 1928 in Fargo, ND to Martin and Mina (Stoen) Lina. They lived in the Osgood and Golden Ridge areas of Fargo, where he grew up. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1946.
Bud was drafted into the Army in 1951 and was with the Army Signal Corp being promoted to Sergeant. He left the service in 1953. He was employed by Patterson Dental Company for 46 years before retiring in 1983 as office manager for the Fargo Branch. He continued working for Patterson’s Special Task Force traveling for the company all over the United States and Canada at their many branches. He officially retired in 2001.
He was associated on a part-time basis with the Bison Hotel and Coffee Shop in the 50’s and 60’s. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian (Rehn) Stowers; and Bertha Lybeck; niece, Marlene (Lybeck) Lambie; niece, Susan (Douglas) Solberg; and nephews, Douglas Lybeck, Robert Rehn, and Gerald (Margaret) Rehn.
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND.
