Donald Brasel, 86, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Bethany on University with his sons at his side.
Donald Duane Brasel was born on September 12, 1937 in Perham, MN to Walter and Elva (Huwe) Brasel. He was raised on a dairy farm outside of Perham. In 9th grade he went to work full time on the farm, after which he enlisted in the National Guard and served for 10 years.
Donald met Carole Storley in 1963 and they married the same year. Together, they raised two sons in Fargo.
Donald worked for GTA Trucking for several years before going to work for Sears as a service tech. He worked there until his retirement.
Donald enjoyed camping, gardening, and woodworking, and especially spending time with his three grandsons. He enjoyed doing home improvement projects and is fondly remembered for re-shingling his roof at 76 years old. Donald loved to joke around, had the greatest sense of humor and quick-wit.
Donald is survived by two sons, Duane William (Vicki) Brasel “The #1 Son”; and Daryl Wayne (Elizabeth “Bet”) Brasel “The One that Counts”, all of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Samson Brasel, Mark Anderson and Logan Anderson; siblings, Melvin (Joyce) Brasel, Doris Jaakola, Viola Lako, Larry (Linda) Brasel, Arlo (Sandy) Brasel, Eldie (Carol) Brasel, Noreen Selander, Connie (Chuck) Bortle, and Donna (Walter) Seifert; sister-in-law, Shirley Brasel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole; parents; siblings, Leroy (Connie) Brasel, and Gerald Brasel; in-laws, Glenn Jaakola, Wayne Lako, and Alden Selander.
Funeral Service: 2:30pm, Friday, September 22, 2023 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND with a visitation one hour prior.
Prayer Service: 7pm, Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the funeral home with a visitation from 5-7pm.
Burial: Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Fargo, ND. All family attending are asked to bring a shovel.
