DeWayne Dale Streyle, 71, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his home in Fargo with his wife, Mona, and three daughters, Traci, Jami and Karri at his side. Visitation will be at 12:00PM with the funeral service at 1:00PM, Friday August 27 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND with Pastor Marty Tollefson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Resurrection in Fargo. Arrangements are by Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home.
DeWayne was born in Bismarck, ND to Emma and Dale Streyle on November 7, 1949. He attended grade school at Hazelton, ND. His family moved to Enderlin, ND where DeWayne graduated from Enderlin High School in 1967. He married Mona L Reise on June 29, 1969. They were married 52 years. DeWayne and Mona raised 3 daughters in Leeds, ND.
DeWayne graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1971 with a degree in Banking and Finance. He was a member of Phi Delta Fraternity. He was an active alumni of the University of North Dakota, supportive of the UND Foundation, UND Business School, UND football and UND hockey helping provide scholarships and funding needed for campus construction and classroom enhancement. DeWayne worked at Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Fargo, North Dakota after graduating from UND. After a year he was employed at Farmers State Bank of Leeds, ND working with his father, Dale. DeWayne attended the Midwest Banking Institute, National Installment Lending School at the University of Oklahoma, and Colorado School of Banking. While he was President and CEO at Leeds, United Community Bank was established with branches in Drake, Burlington and Minot, ND.
DeWayne was President of Independent Community Banks of North Dakota and was a board member for ICBND, serving on the Agriculture and Rural America Committee of the National Board of Independent Community Banks of America from 1999-2009 and on the Membership and Recruitment Board for ICBA from 2003-2008. In 2009, he was awarded the Distinguished Community Banker Award by the Independent Community Banks of North Dakota. At his retirement, the bank was sold to American Bancor in 2015.
DeWayne was a member of Leeds Lutheran Church in Leeds, ND, serving as president of the church council. He was a member and served as president of the Leeds Jaycees, Lions Club, Park Board, Leeds city Council, Leeds Economic Development Corporation, member of the Leeds Fire Department and was a Emergency Medical Technician with the Leeds Ambulance service for 25 years. As Chairman of the Leeds Park Board, he was instrumental in the building of the Edward Nestegard Municipal Swimming Pool in Leeds. As Chairman of EDC of Leeds, DeWayne assisted in obtaining Noridian Administrative Services to locate in Leeds. DeWayne was chairman of the Center of North America Coalition for Rural Development and was presented the Excellence of Agriculture Award in 2014 from North Dakota State University of Fargo ND for his extensive work and dedication for farmers in North Dakota. He most recently served on the board of directors of Lake Detroiters Association, Detroit Lakes, MN.
DeWayne enjoyed flying his plane, skydiving, hunting, fishing in Alaska, 50's music, water skiing, swimming, snow skiing, his many travels with his wife and family, NASCAR, UND hockey and football, many adventures with his wife, children and grandchildren, summers in Detroit lakes, MN and winters in Naples, FL with his wife, Mona, his family and many friends.
DeWayne will always be remembered for his generosity to many and care to his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, extended family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Mona of Fargo, ND, his three daughters, Traci Isaacson of Bismarck, ND, Jami Streyle of Fargo, ND, and Karri (Shane) Huber of Muskego, WI. Grandpa was the BEST to his grandchildren Blake (Erin) and great-grandson, Brock Isaacson of Bismarck, Kalbe Isaacson of Los Angeles, CA, Ariel Isaacson of Bismarck, ND (Traci); Carson, Paris, and Kami Dean (Jami) all of Fargo, ND; and Paxton, Preston, Allegra and Aria Huber (Karri) of Muskego, WI; his mother, Emma Streyle of Fargo; sister, Charlene (Paul) Oehlke of Wahpeton, ND; sister, Peggy (Robert) Weise of Nevis, MN; brother, Keith (Jo) Streyle of Leeds, ND; sister-in-law, Clara (Eugene) Edwardson of Carrington, ND; sister-in-law, Alta (Melvin) Zepper of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Julie Baumler of Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law, Robert (Mikel) Reise of Eau Claire, WI; brother-in-law, Allan Stromstad, Beltrami, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong treasured friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Dale Streyle; Father-in-law, Julius Reise; Mother-in-law, Mary Reise; Brother-in-law, Clarence Reise; and Sister-in-law, Karen Stromstad.
A special thank you to daughters Traci, Jami and Karri for their love and special care of their Dad.

There will be a visitation held for DeWayne, Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 2:00-3:00 PM, with a family service starting at 3:00PM.
Memorials may be given in memory of DeWayne to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and the Farm Rescue.
