Delores (Dot) Cysewski, 93, of Fargo, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Missouri Slope care facility in Bismarck.
Dot was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Peter and Frances (Engelhart) Rerich. When Dot was seven years of age, her family moved to Fargo, where she would grow up and attend school, graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949.
After graduating high school, Dot worked as a secretary and office assistant in Fargo for various businesses, including the Firestone Store, then later in life moving on to Ketcham and Associates Court Reporting firm and then Fargo Youth Commission.
Dot met Derroll, and they married in 1952. Following their marriage in 1957, they had their first-born son, Steven, and then in 1959, they had their second son, Dale. Dot and Derroll enjoyed spending time with their sons and did so often by going camping and visiting the lakes country in Minnesota.
Dot and Derroll belonged to a local camping club and enjoyed camping and traveling throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, and many other states. They especially enjoyed spending summers with close friends and their family in the Minnesota lakes country. Dot's most memorable trip was to Hawaii in the 1970s with Derroll and their close friends, Rose and John Ohnstad.
After retirement, Dot and Derroll purchased a winter home in Mesa, Arizona. Dot and Derroll enjoyed spending their winters there for 20 years together. They had many close friends from North Dakota who also spent the winters in Mesa and enjoyed many of their fondest and most memorable years together. Dot also enjoyed spending time volunteering at Riverview Place in Fargo, where her father Peter resided, especially during their "apple dumpling days" celebrations.
Dot's favorite thing throughout her life was spending time with her family. Dot cherished Christmas celebrations and how they brought the people she loved most together. She hosted many Christmas celebrations and dinners for family and friends at their home in Fargo. Later in life, Dot enjoyed spending her Christmas celebrations baking and decorating with her grandchildren and family in Bismarck.
Dot was a lifetime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Dot truly enjoyed the relationship she had with the Lord and with the members of the church.
Dot is survived by her son, Steve (Anita); grandchildren, Kyle and Katrina of Bismarck; and one brother, Jim (Mary) Rerich of Tyler, Texas.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Derroll; her son, Dale; her parents, Peter and Frances; her younger sister, Karen; and brothers, Ken Rerich and Dick Rerich.
Dot's family would like to thank everyone for sharing their memories and this time with us.
