Deborah Renae Solberg, 60, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. The eldest child and only daughter of Archie and Loretta Solberg, Deb was born on April 25, 1957 in Fargo, ND. She was a 1975 graduate of Brookings High School and attended South Dakota State University.
After graduation Deb worked at Archie’s Red Owl grocery store in Madison, SD and 3M in Brookings, SD. After moving to Fargo in 1988 she became the department head of the Garden Center at Walmart, and later worked for Bergen’s Greenhouse in Detroit Lakes, MN. For the past 10 years Deb was a proud employee of Bell Bank in Fargo. In all of her jobs she made friendships that she carried with her for the rest of her life.
Deb had a nurturing spirit, with a real talent for caring for the people she knew. She adored her family, and was the primary caregiver of her mother for the past several years. Deb was a wonderful big sister to her three brothers, and was immensely proud of her nieces and nephews. She loved the summer sun because it made her beloved plants grow and gave her the opportunity to spend time at the lake with her family and friends. A hippie at heart, Deb enjoyed 70s music and had a special place in her heart for Neil Young.
Deb is survived by her mother, Loretta, of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Scott (Michelle) of Dell Rapids, SD and Michael (Michele) of Fargo, ND; three nephews, Mitch of Fargo, ND, Chris of Fargo, ND, and Dylan of Brookings, SD; four nieces, Amy of Moorhead, MN, Kelsey of Minneapolis, MN, Alysha of Sioux Falls, SD, and Rhiannon of Fargo, ND; and seven great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Archie, and her brother, James.
The Solberg family would like to thank the Lions Eye Bank of MN for facilitating the donation of Deb’s eyes, a cause that was deeply important to her.
