Dawn Rourke

Dawn passed away on January 14, 2024, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, N.D., surrounded by her loving family at the age of 64.

Dawn Marie Rourke was born on May 20th, 1959, in Moorhead, M.N., the daughter of John (Jack) and Marie (Smedshammer) Rourke. She grew up in the Fargo and Twin Cities areas. She received her education in Fargo, N.D. graduating from South High School.

When Dawn was 16 years old, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
In 2004 Dawn began working at Fargo Assembly and has worked there up until her recent cancer diagnosis in 2023.

In November of 2023, Dawn was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 stomach adenoma.

Some of Dawn’s favorite times were watching her great niece and nephew in their hockey tournaments. She enjoyed watching the Rodeo, Bison Football, the Minnesota Twins baseball, and the Minnesota Vikings football. She liked to attend the F-M Red Hawks games and stock car races. Anytime spent with family or friends was what made her truly happy.

Dawn is survived by her loving mother, Marie; her siblings, Vicki (Rourke) Mueller of Ladson, S.C.; Michelle Rourke of Verona, N.D.; and Bud (Kyla) Rourke of Perham, M.N.; nieces and nephews, Angie (Shannon) Kain and family of Hortonville, W.I.; Lisa (Matt) Hoy and family of Prior Lake, M.N.; Dustin (Erica) Mueller and family of Ladson, S.C.; Amy (Dustin) Kath and family of Lisbon, N.D.; Melissa (Wayne) Norieka of Rochester, M.N.; Paige Rourke of Moorhead, M.N.; and Kallie Rourke of Perham, M.N. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack, brother-in-law Joseph Mueller, and both sets of grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held on January 20, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, N.D. (215 7th St. S., Fargo, N.D. 58103).
