David Jerome Hanson died peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo due to complications of a stroke on April 10th. David was born September 15, 1942, in Wildrose, North Dakota, son of Wallace and Martha (Bader) Hanson. He grew up in rural North Dakota and completed his education at Fargo Central High School. After high school, he worked in construction and agriculture in the Minot, North Dakota area until enlisting in the United States Army in 1964. He was trained in electronics and served in the Signal Corps in Korea until being honorably discharged in 1967. He married his wife, Hyon on April 25, 1966 in Seoul, Korea. Upon being discharged from the Army, David returned to Fargo, North Dakota and worked for several years for Hertz Rental. He worked the remainder of his career at the Fargo Post Office until he retired in 2001. David enjoyed jogging, weight lifting and cycling, discussing current events, computers, travel, keeping abreast of technology and spending quality time with his family. He is best characterized by his disciplined approach to all aspects of life and strong commitment to caring for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Hyon, Fargo, ND; his daughter, Susan (Nelson) Gray, Phoenix, AZ; his son, Troy (Cheryl) Hanson, Jamestown, ND; four grandchildren; his sisters, Darlene Bland, Minot, ND and Donna Maynard, Kokomo, IN; and brother, Donald, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Highland Homes Cemetery, Jamestown, ND at a later date.
