Darrell Otto

Darrell Otto, 82, of Fargo died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Darrell John Otto was born April 29, 1925 to John Darrell Otto and Ella (Hulbert) Otto. He grew up in Juanita, ND where he graduated from high school in 1943. He farmed with his father near Juanita, where he later raised his family. Darrell married Grace Kottsick on September 30, 1945 in Jamestown, ND. Grace died November 22, 1965. He later married Doris “Dee” Sturlaugson on March 29, 1968 in Sheldon, ND. In 1994, they moved to Fargo where they made their home. He was a dedicated husband, father, and farmer. He was truly a farming engineer, always fixing, improving, and repairing equipment that he used on the farm. His strong rugged hands were a symbol of his faith, unselfish character, and work ethic. Darrell is survived by his loving wife Doris, Fargo, ND; children, Craig (Pam) Sturlaugson, Coon Rapids, MN; John (Muriel) Otto, Ulen, MN; Kaye (George) Topp, Grace City, ND; Beverly (David) Flach, Fargo, ND; Phil (Nancy) Sturlaugson, St. Cloud, MN; Scott (Brooke) Sturlaugson, Rapid City, SD; and Shelley (Kevin) Wold, Hatton, ND; sister Georgia Benson, New Rockford, ND; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lois, Marjorie, Verle, Carol, and Dorothy. Funeral Service: Thurs. Dec. 27, 2007 at 2:00pm at Edgewood United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Wed. Dec. 26, 2007 from 4-7pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Prayer Service: Wed. Dec. 26, 2007 at 7:00pm at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Grace City Cemetery, Grace City, ND. (at a later date) Memorials may be made to Edgewood United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
