Darrel Kjelvik, 74, of Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo. Darrel Allen Kjelvik was born December 1, 1933, in Polk County, Minnesota, son of Wilhelm and Betsy (Qualley) Kjelvik. Darrel was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Denebola. After discharge, he went to work for Red Owl. Darrel then worked for the Fargo Public School system from 1963 to 1992, a total of 29 years. After his retirement, he was a volunteer for many organizations. He cooked at the homeless shelter and worked at the Food Bank. He also volunteered at the Veterans Hospital. His last project was constructing book shelves for Habitat for Humanity. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Betsy; and his wife, Carol. He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Corrin) Kjelvik, Mesa, AZ; daughter, Karen (Glenn) Mann, Bismarck, ND; daughter, Deb (Brent) Albright, Eagan, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Ann) Mann, Fargo, ND; Mikalya (Will) Mann, Bismarck, ND; Christina Mann, Bismarck, ND. Darrel was the proud great-grandfather of Christiana Mann, daughter of Michael and Ann Mann. He was a beloved uncle to nieces and nephew, Julie, Dave and Barb; sister-in-law and best friends, Marilyn (Kermit) Jensen, Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Sara) Pagel, Torrance, CA. Funeral Service: Monday, November 17, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, November 16, 2008, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Sunday, at 6 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
