Darci Ann Symington, 54, Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Darci Ann was born in Cavalier, ND on July 19, 1966 to Darlene Ann (Johnson) and David Park Symington of Neche, ND. She spent her early years in Neche enjoying life on the farm and attending Sunday School at the Neche United Methodist Church. She was an avid Neche sports follower attending basketball and baseball games with her family. She was the cutest little school cheerleader mascot ever! Darci attended Neche Public School for kindergarten and first grade before moving on to Grand Forks, ND and Duluth, MN to attend school in their special education curriculums. In August of 1987 Darci moved to Fargo, ND and joined the “Friendship Family”. For the next 33 years, she was loved by her own family and the many staff she encountered at Friendship group homes.
Darci was baptized in the Neche United Methodist Church and confirmed in the Fargo Faith United Methodist church. Darci loved spending time with family, attending church, watching movies, being outdoors, going on adventures with her Friendship friends and watching and attending sporting events of every kind.
Darci is survived by mom and stepfather, Darlene and Harold Mattingly, stepmother Barbara Symington, sister, Dyana (Bill) Beaton, brother, David/Cooter Symington, nieces, Nichole (Jon) Kearns, Kayce (Gabe) Halley, Angela (Adison) Beaton Jaeger and nephew, Billy Beaton. Great-niece, Quinn Halley and Great-nephews, Kelby, Daxten and Lennox Kearns and Fletcher Halley. She is also survived by Harold’s children, Mary (Mark) Harlow and Harold II (Sue) Mattingly and numerous cousins and extended family.
Darci was preceded in death by her father David P. Symington, and her grandparents James L. & Kathleen (Park) Symington and Andrew & Margaret (Middal) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many Friendship staff and caregivers who enriched Darci’s life over the past 33 plus years.
