Curtis H.B. Halverson went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. He passed away peacefully at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. He leaves his family wife, Norma; sons, Alan and Paul (Katy) and grandchildren Jay and Casey, and many extended family members.
Dad was born on 3/3/1929 and raised in Northwood, ND. He went to Mayville, ND for college and eventually moved to Fargo, ND. He married Norma Ellingson on June 29th, 1958. He worked a variety of jobs before settling in at the V.A. Hospital in Fargo. He retired from there after 25 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and the N.D. Air National Guard, retiring after more than 25 years. He then served the Guard in an advisory role with the Air Guard Association working the City of Fargo for several more years. He was an active member of the choir at First Lutheran and worked with Stephen Ministries through the church.
After retirement, he kept busy with numerous trips to the cabin in Detroit Lakes, MN and a place in Mesa, AZ. He and Norma enjoyed traveling to Norway, Germany, and Hawaii, as well as trips to places across the country. He enjoyed spending time playing his baritone horn in the Lake Agassiz Concert Band, talking with friends and seeing his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hilda Halverson and his brother, Hans.
Dad will be forever loved and missed by all his friend and family.
