Curtis Dean Grommish, 64, formerly of Jamestown, ND died Thursday, December 21, 2022 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Curtis was born January 21, 1958, the second oldest of eight children born to Quentin and Darlene (Schlichting) Grommish. He grew up in and around the Jamestown, ND area and attended Jamestown High School. A first marriage to Cheryl in the late 1970s gave him a daughter Rebecca. A subsequent marriage to Claryce (Orvette) in the mid 1990s brought him a couple of stepchildren, including Willie (Dana) Cook, who remained his hunting buddy and friend for the remainder of his life.
Throughout his life, Curtis held several jobs, including working at the local sale barn, floor maintenance at a department store, mowing lawns etc., but the job he really missed after retiring was traveling with the carnival. He considered it "good, hard work" that allowed him to see the country. In later years, it was something he missed.
Curt enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He also enjoyed the love of a loyal dog, a cup of strong, hot coffee, and a good, cold beer. Enjoying these things will not be the same without him.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry, Randy (Dawn), Albert; and sister, Dorothy Kersting. He is survived by his sisters, Carol (Paul) Huff and Sandy (David) Ruark; brother, Terry; daughter, Rebecca; stepson, Willie; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly.
