Corinne Evelyn Horken, daughter of Charles and Alma (Berg) Roarig died at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND, on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. She was born on June 2, 1917, in Grand Forks, ND. Corinne grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1935. After attending the University of North Dakota, Corinne married her high school sweetheart, Harley Horken. During World War II on extended active duty, Harley and family were stationed throughout the U.S. After the war, they returned to Fargo. She worked as a proofreader for the Forum until retiring. Corinne and Harley enjoyed traveling and also their winter home in Mesa, AZ, for 20 years. They belonged to the Avion Travel Club and had many great adventures. Corinne was a long time member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Grand Forks and Fargo. Corinne had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed solo work as well as singing with many choirs. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alma Roarig; her husband, Harley; and daughter, Vicki. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Holman, Fargo, ND; granddaughters, Marisa (Morrie Forsgren) Holman, Dilworth, MN; Ruth (Brad) Sondrol, Fargo, ND; and Pamela Samuelson, Fargo, ND; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Forsgren, Elisabeth Sondrol and Alyssa Samuelson. Funeral Service: Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, July 31, 2009, at 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Friday, July 31, 2009, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
