Cora Corwin

Cora Gould Corwin, 88, of Fargo, ND, died August 16, 2007, at Elim Care Center, Fargo. Cora was born December 24, 1918, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Jotham and Alma (Bokee) Gould. She was raised in San Francisco, CA, and graduated from Lowell High School with straight As. She attended the University of California-Berkley. She married William Corwin on August 16, 1941. She worked as a secretary for the Standard Oil Company, while Bill served in WW II. They moved to Fargo after the war, where they raised their three children. Cora was a painter who served on the original Rourke Art Gallery and Plains Art Museum boards. Her painting of the Shoreham Chapel is still used on its’ promotional literature. As a member of the Episcopal Church Women, she created the graphics for one of their cookbooks. She loved to play bridge and spend time with family and friends at her Fargo home and Lake Melissa, MN, cottages. She also was a member of the Junior Service League, PEO and served the Republican Party for many years. Her love of animals was legendary. Cora and Bill enjoyed global travels. She is survived by Willie the cat; son, Bill (Dr. Terry) Corwin, Valley City, ND; daughter, Dr. Mary (Ron) Herring, Waterloo, IA; son, Bob (Cheryl) Corwin, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Katie (Matt) Hasbargen, Fargo, ND; Ben (Stephanie) Corwin, Shelly (Ryan) Hinz, Waterloo, IA, Bob Herring, Maquoketa, IA, Sam (Chantel) Corwin, Highlands Ranch, CO; John Corwin, Bismarck, ND, Roz Corwin, Fargo, ND; Ian (Diane) Buchli; St. Simon Island, GA; as well as great-grandchildren, Xander and Nicholas Hasbargen, Fargo, ND, Ryan and Jordan Herring, Maquoketa, IA, Tyler Hinz, Waterloo, IA, and Zane and Annica Buchli, St. Simon Island, GA. Her sister, Margery (Joe) Hunt, Oakland CA; brother and sister-in-laws, Charles and Betty Corwin; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Elim Care Center for their excellent care and support for Cora and Willie. Funeral Service: Monday, August 20, 2007, at 11 AM, at Gethsemane Cathedral, 3600 25th St. S., Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, August 19, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND. Memorials: Cora G. Corwin Scholarship Fund, North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND; Gethsemane Cathedral, Fargo, ND
