Connie Norheim, 72, Fargo, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 10, 2024, in One Oak Place.
Connie was born October 12, 1951 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Jerry and Blanche (Piercy) Norheim. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1969 and became a registered nurse at UND in 1973. She married her HS sweetheart Jim Attleson in 1974 and they were divorced a year later. Connie met Lew Dailey at Skateland in Fargo in 1977 and they shared the next 39 years together until his sudden death in 2016.
Connie got her Masters in Counseling & Guidance in 1981 from NDSU in Fargo, and her Masters in Adult Health Nursing in 1986 at UND, Grand Forks, ND. She taught nursing at NDSU from 1974-1988 and was then an Assistant Professor in the nursing program at Concordia College, Moorhead for two years. She worked as an RN in ICU at various Fargo hospitals until 2009, then worked in outpatient surgery until she retired in 2013.
Connie was an avid birder and was very active in the local Audubon Society. She and Lew loved to camp and planned their vacations around places to see new “lifebirds”, including Australia, Hawaii, Panama, Alaska, and across most of the U.S. She took thousands of tombstone photos as a volunteer for findagrave.com, enjoyed the flower beds in her yard, and loved to travel.
Although Connie had no children of her own, she considered Lew’s four children (Lew, Edward, Becky, Christina), 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren hers as well and cherished the time they spent together.
Connie is survived by her father, Jerry Norheim, Moorhead, MN; nieces, Erin (Brian) Johnson, Dresser, WI and Danielle Norheim, Redwood City, CA.
Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche; her brother, Craig; and her life partner, Lew Dailey.
She will be interred with Lew at the Columbarium at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, ND.
